Financial Experience

I am running to be a financial steward of tax payer funds. The board needs to reestablish trust with the community by increasing transparency. With my deep level of finance experience and an MBA from University of Chicago, I have the skill needed to bring financial sustainability back to District 65.

Accountable Leadership

Our current financial crisis is the resuIt of a lack of accountable leadership. Only through effective leadership will we chart a course through this crisis. We need to empower and develop our school leadership to make District 65 a destination for educators. My experience leading high functioning teams from 10 to 2,000 people will bring expertise in organizational leadership to execution of the difficult work ahead.

Centered on Children

As a district we have lost our way. We have been making decisions and prioritizing work that has not centered the long term development of our children. For 10 years I have been a District 65 parent, volunteer and PTA co-president. I will be the voice for teachers, principals, caregivers and families that want District 65 to be the best choice for their children.

My vision is to lead District 65 towards financial stability, educational excellence, and a thriving school community that celebrates diversity. I am committed to fostering an inclusive environment where every student can flourish academically and personally. By prioritizing transparency, collaboration, and operational efficiency, I aim to ensure that the district delivers the best possible education to our students, preparing them for a successful future and empowering them to reach their full potential.

I am running because Evanston needs a financially sustainable school district that attracts and retains students. I bring the financial and operational experience to ensure we can achieve our goals and meet our budget requirements.

A big thanks to Barb Hiller and the Mather for hosting a District 65 candidate forum. The chance to speak to and hear from the residents was a great way to spend a Saturday afternoon.

Signs are holding up in the snow! I walked outside this morning to find my neighbor shoveled the entire block. People ask me all the time why I’m running. It’s pretty simple- the second pic illustrates it. We live in a community that helps and cares for each other. To ensure it stays that way, we need a financially sustainable k-8 school district that gives all our kids an excellent education. Period.

Dramatic curves up and to the right often signal great growth stories. In this case, the growth is in unchecked spending and lack of accountability to budgets by District 65 administrators and board members.
The Structural Deficit Reduction Plan aims to cut transportation spending by nearly $5 million. The question is how did it get so high in the first place? The current SDRP doesn’t address Special Education costs, but how are we serving our students with disabilities?
